We primarily purchase materials for the library that support the curriculum and the experiential mission of Brevard College. You can help us with recommendations for items that will support your classes. Use the form linked below or email Melodie with your suggestions.
We attempt to purchase every book that faculty recommend for student use. For more expensive items, or in areas where the collection may already be strong, we may request that you use interlibrary loan instead.
For other types of items, we solicit suggestions and feedback, but must be more selective in our purchasing. These include subscription items (journals, databases, data sets) and educational technology tools.
You can also meet with Melodie or Marie to discuss your resource needs for a particular class. If we know more specifics about what you are teaching, we can build the collection to support those needs.
For more information, ask Marie or Melodie about our collection development policies.
Books, scores, CDs, DVDs, etc.- We will accept nearly all book donations, but may not add the items to the library. All donated items are evaluated for their usefulness to the collection. Remaining items may be sold, placed on our "free book" cart, or donated for the AAUW book sale, at our discretion.
Office and art supplies - Markers, clean posterboard, glue sticks, pencils, pens, binders, notecards and notebooks are welcome but must be approved before you drop them off with us. These school supply resources are helpful to our students.
And of course, Brevard College is always grateful for monetary donations.
