Use of the Library Building

Computer Use

  • Desktop computers and laptop computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis for students, staff, and faculty of Brevard College. Laptops check out for 4 hours at a time.
  • Community members and visitors to the campus can obtain a guest login from the library desk. At peak times, these individuals may be asked to give up a computer for student, faculty, or staff use.
  • Computer users agree to abide by the Brevard College IT Acceptable Use Policy

Quiet and Noise

  • We strive to make the library a friendly and collaborative space.  If you need a quiet place to work, seek out a study room or use the computer lab.
  • The only designated Quiet Zone is the library's Computer Lab. Please respect this rule. If you have group work or need to collaborate with friends, you can check out laptops from the circulation desk and work in another area of the library.
  • Although we don't have a noise policy in the open areas of the library, we do ask you to be considerate of others using the facility. Use what your mom or first grade teacher might have called your "inside voice." If someone asks you or your group to be quieter, then you are probably disturbing more than just that person.

Food and Drink

  • Eat, drink, be merry, but be polite about it.
  • Try not to spill. If you do spill, notify the main desk so that they can get it cleaned.
  • Pick up after yourself. Trash cans and recycling bins are located throughout the building.

Community Users and Visiting Scholars

  • We welcome community users and visiting scholars to the Jones Library. However, students, faculty, and staff of Brevard College have priority in use of facilities, services, and computers in the library.
  • If behavior or use of facilities is deemed inappropriate or possibly dangerous, we reserve the right to ban visitors from the facility or the campus. Computer users agree to abide by the College's  IT Acceptable Use Policy, and can be banned for misuse of these resources.
  • Photocopying and printing is available for $.10 per page for black and white and $.25 per page for color.
  • Guest WiFi is available throughout the building.
